Aesthetics is one of the greatest concerns in the dental industry. We often hear doctors speak of their dissatisfaction with cosmetic cases and one must wonder, why? What is the cause?

In our experience, most often it is the lack of information available to the technician. A prescription with "#9 PFM A2/A3" leaves the technician very little to go on. That is why Nexus Studios believes in case planning.

The use of pre-operative study models can provide a wealth of information; size, shape, length, tissue height and health, and cuspid rise (which can be replicated by creating a matrix and/or an incisal guide table). And Diagnostic Wax can help the technician effectively communicate with both Doctor and patient the details of shape and size.

Photographs and color mapping are a visual guide for technicians to refer back to when using intricate porcelain layering and internal staining techniques to re-create shading, translucency, and genetic nuances.

Without these (and other) aids, a technician is severely handicapped and can only reference the working model for contour information and the prescription, which often contains little information concerning shading nuances, leaving it to personal interpretation as to what is aesthetically pleasing.
